Improving the diet does require self-discipline. You may feel like eating healthy foods means to cut off pizzas, cakes, donuts, and cupcakes. But it is not necessary that your diet has to go that way. Sometimes making a better decision for the healthy body can be about adding nutritious food in your diet plan. 

So here are the food options that you can add in your diet to provide minerals and vitamins to your body.

1. Berries

All kind of berries is a great source of fiber. Fiber keeps your digestive system and heart-healthy. You can eat any kind of berries as berries help in maintaining your body. As all berries are good for health, make sure that you have every kind of berries in your bowl. 

Eating raspberries can help in losing weight. So raspberries are ideal for breakfast. If you have raspberries in your diet then it can help in eliminating cancer to some extent because it contains ellagic acid which has anti-cancer property.    

Blueberries have anthocyanins and antioxidants that help in keeping your memory sharp. And strawberries contain vitamin C which gives a glow to your skin. 

2. Eggs

Eggs are a great source of protein. One egg contains about 70 calories and 6 grams of protein so including egg in any dishes can enhance the nutrition.  Eggs are not an option for a vegan but if you are non-vegetarian, then consuming eggs can be very beneficial for your body.

In fact, egg yolks contain lutein and zeaxanthin-two antioxidants that keep your eyes healthy. So if you have a vision problem than an egg can help you maintain your vision. And lutein also acts as a shield that protects your skin from harmful UV rays.

3. Nuts

If you are eating nuts a day, then you are definitely giving nutrition to your body. Nuts have two most important minerals i.e, polyunsaturated fat and magnesium that keep your body healthy. These minerals can protect your body from insulin resistance which causes diabetes.

Nuts can also reduce the risk factor for metabolic syndromes such as cholesterol level and high blood pressure. Eating nuts a day can lower the risk of chronic disease and cancer. To some extent, it can also improve the level of blood sugar. 

Soaking 4 to 5 almonds in water and eating it daily is beneficial to the body. If you don’t like wet almond you can also consume it without soaking.

4. Tea

You might be surprised to know but drinking tea can reduce the risk of diabetes and some cancer. Moreover, tea keeps your bones, teeth and gum healthy. Actually, drinking black tea is healthier than milk tea and it can help in losing weight. 

Tea is rich in flavonoids which help in losing weight. To make the power of tea more effective you may prefer to drink it without sugar. Or you may also add lemon juice in your black tea to make it more effective. If you are suffering from heavyweight, then it’s better to drink tea twice a day, in morning and evening. 

5. Oats

Oats are an easy breakfast meal. As oats are the source of fiber, having a bowl of oats a day is nutritious to your body. Oats are the best breakfast meal when your schedule is pack and you don’t have time to eat in a day. Eating oat for the breakfast keeps your stomach full and keeps your body active all day. 

And if you want to make the bowl of oats interesting, you can add nuts and sliced fruits in it. When you pour milk in a bowl of oats make sure that milk is warm because warm milk enhances the taste of oats. Milk and oats are rich minerals and vitamins so when combined it becomes a great source of nutrition. 

6. Oranges

We all know that apples are very nutritious to the body, but very few of us know that oranges are also beneficial to keep the body healthy. Oranges are an excellent source of vitamin C and your body need vitamin C to produce white blood cells and antibodies that fight against infections. Oranges are also rich in fiber and folate which is a necessary mineral to the body.

Including oranges in fruit salad is very nutritious. Consuming fruit salad a day keeps your body fit and healthy as it contains varieties of fruits which are beneficial to maintain health. If you don’t like to add orange with salad then you can drink orange juice. 

7. Sweet potatoes

Sweet potatoes are rich in vitamin A, which helps to keep your eyes, bones, and immune system healthy. In facts, Sweet potatoes also act as antioxidants that sweep disease-promoting free radicals. You can take sweet potatoes as your lunch when you have a busy schedule.

Additionally, it is also a great source of vitamin C and B6, potassium, manganese, lutein and zeaxanthin. So try to include sweet potatoes in your diet plan, at least twice or thrice a week to give your body all these minerals.
